well a lot of people wanted to know how to do it.... im not even calling it my style. and since when is can you copyright styles? are you honestly telling me that no one else on this planet has the same style as onskin? its very hypocritical to say since everyone here has had help or read a tutorial. because according to your own statements you are all pathetic......

Im sure there are people who want to know how to do this, go read the request for a tutorial on this type of sig. no calls them unorginal or pathetic for wanting to know how..
I wanted to know how so i figured it out.

What problem do you all have with that? its like ive come up to you personally and said 'hi' then slapped you in face, and casually walked away.

I simply made a sig 'similar' to onskins according to nod1ne since it is "It's pathetic."
So how can I be critized on something so pathetic and no where near what he made?

Again, you all have displayed a dissapointing amount of intellengence by flaming me really, and I am not mad at all in any way to be honest. So you have failed in doing whatever it is you tried to do. Cause If I want to do something, rather it be 'stealing' an uncopy righted style, I'll do it and i dont care what ill concieved flame you come up with.

I was looking for maybe a small pat on the back, since a lot of people sounded like they didnt know how to do this. Guess I was wrong, my bad, I wont do it again.

Yeah, people did want to know..but all you did was tell eveybody that you knew what he did (When you clearly don't as that is nowhere near Onskins standard)

So it just made you look like a pompus asshole wanting to be praised for making a crap imitation of an onskin sig, which other people have already done.

And sure everybody copies each other, but they also use there own creativity to add to their inspiration.


Whether people want to know how onskin does it or not, it's not even up to you to tell everyone.


Hoep you enjoyed your week of work for this, because in my eyes, it certainly wasn't worth it.

Rival you're kinda funny.Actually the sig is absolutely no where near Onskin's class and technique.Onskin doesn't use c4d renders.Anyway i don't think your try to copy Onskin's is neccessary.Yeah,it's ok,but anyone could spend a week infront of the monitor to remake everything.But it's all about the flame and originality.Only the pathetic designers enjoy making copies of good sigs,because they feel like equal to the designer they copied's class.Which is not it.And ofcourse people copy,but most of them don't do it on purpose(the good designers).One sig could be 500x200,one wall is 1024x768.These are limited spaces you have to fill.Of course some details could be the same.But the good designers try and add stuff they want and they variate.That's the difference btw the good and the noob.Onskin's secret?His secret is 2 years of Photoshop experience and a lot of ideas and imagination.And you think you've got his secret?Why then he is well-known and respected designer,and you're not?And don't think that when you say "I found it's secret" makes you look better in people's eyes."I wanted to know how so i figured it out." - that's stupid,everything you did on this sig is absolutely not the same as Onskin's.Your biggest mistake is the c4d.You figured out nothing.You and your flames.Bit tired of them,you always say that we(mostly the moderators and people who critisize you) started the flame.That's pathetic.What do you expect to get except angry reactions after copying a sig.That's sad.Don't do it again or i will personally ban you.

yea but everyone treats this as plagurism. I cannot even describe in full depth how everyone is taking me, copying a sig and being happy for it as a personal insult to them.
It does not make any of you look good. I wasn't looking to be veiwed as a prophet for this or anything... just a fun thing to see what I can do. and I did get close, the one that uhhh whats his name, nodine posted isnt the one i was trying to redo. plus for a first try i thought it was alright. Sure everyone adds their own creativity as you say to their signatures. But in true fact, that's what I did. oh and btw i used no C4Ds. but anyways. thats what I did. you are all saying it is so far from what onskin did. well that is because my own spin has been applied to it. The sig as far as putting your own spin on it looks very pathetic because onskins style is so simple and there is not enough stuff to add to something thats supposed to be simlpe you know? So I dont know what you want me to do, to something that is simple by nature.

I am not a self proclaimed 'designer' as you say. Nor do I refer to myself as an artist. Adobe is a hobby for me as of now. maybe i might do it for money one day, so for me? personally. finding onkins style is more of a technique improvement.

You are treatin onskin like a supernatural person and me as some scum.. I dont appriciate it. I am not a pathetic designer either. you must think you are pretty good to say that. reality is you are not. maybe here. but on the world scale? you are most likely an amateur like me and most others. I am a good designer, i have my own ideas. But do not try to translate my attempt to make onskins sigs as a way to be equal to him. he is human like all of us. We are all equal, and you shouldnt be a mod if you believe otherwise.
So, I appriciate that you all defend onskin and his 'style' but i think its wrong to down on people for being happy they can some what replicate somethnig good. Its a test of their own personal skill, wouldnt you like to be able to make a sig like onskin? ill answer and say alot of people do. mayeb not you, but alot do. and for me im proud that I know I can come up with somethnig (maybe not as good) like it.

The ability to copy someone shouldnt be frowned upon in my opion. if someone can take what Ene.Viduka does and make a good replication, then it shows they got skills. copying is not a complete dumbass thing that anyone can do. you have to be good to copy good people no? now if onskins stuff was copy righted, then yea this is a problem. but for me it was just a personal test.

You all say i was pontificating the fact i can do it. well yea i was, but not in a 'im better then you kind of way' wouldnt you announce a contrivance of your own? but you arent showing off.. right?

From this post i think alot people think poorly of me. and i didnt exactly get a good start off reputation wise on this forum. I just want everyone to know that I'm not jack ass. If it bothers everyone i wont do this again alright? And I dont want people to hate eachother and me. Im not getting mad at the people who flamed me. Everyone is mad at me for doing this and I just want to say that, by me sticking up for myself doesnt make me a jackass....

So all flames aside, I think of everyone as equal, we are all aspiring designers and I dont have any hard feelings toward everyone and i hope everyone forgves me for appologizing about something that obviously offended them.

There's your problem right there Rival. You spent one week trying to "unlock a secret" and then tried to flaunt it to everyone that you made a sig like his. It's not that hard to copy a style and do the same thing. We saw it with master-g and Ibo... master-g's walls looked so freaking similar but never as good.

But your sole purpose was to re-create a piece and a style. No one reproduces the Mona Lisa and says: "AHA I UNLOCKED DAVINCI'S SECRET!!!!!" and tries to glorify himself for reproducing something already there. I don't have a problem with you trying to advance your skills and become a better artist. However, there is a fine line between trying to duplicate something and trying to get inspired and make your own.

Go look at the laws of copyright. You say that we don't techinacally have a copyright on a style. However, if you go and do some research, you fill find out that plagiarism is also classified as following someone else's process. It's not just the end product or the fact that you made it yourself.

Think of it like a paper you copy. All you see is the final product that someone else has written. If you take an idea from a paper (the final product) and you copy it and claim it as your own, you legally plagiarised someone else's process and ideas. Convert this to meet the criteria of art, and you see why a style can be so important to a person. You technically are plagiarising even if you don't want to admit it. It's not ripping per-se... but it is plagiarism of a sort.

Now I can make a sig like onskin, and many people on the GA team could do it. However, we respect his style, and he does it best anyway. The way foreward is to keep being creative and progressive. You're staying at a standstill. You aren't furthering your skills and you're being regressive.

But I think you wasted your time for a week and you were looking for a way different response than you actually received. And yeah, be more creative fro now on and maybe you will earn more respect from people. And don't stop and think that your sig is anywhere near as good as onskins. Congrats for learning how to use lighten and overlay and bright colors and brushes.

But maybe you'll learn from this and spend your time better in the future.

honestly, i expected a better responce from you then anyone else here nic. but i was wrong. even you, one of the most understanding people here think that i solely believe that my sig is as good as onskins.no one quoted me on it yet anf still claims i did say that. All i said was that I think its good for me. And a week is yea, a bit of an exageration. i spent one weeks time but only 2 hrs/day after school on it. still a good amount of time. but whatever.

And you said be more creative and you will earn more respect from people. Look at your sig right now and tell me what is so different? a multi squared background pattern with progessing fading colours to the outward directions. and you have put a render on there with C4D's beside her.... and lets think... what makes that so original? I think by now everyone who does sigs, used C4D's in the same way you did here. I am not what so ever critising you or the possible 'creative marit' your sig holds.

But can you follow what im saying? i can find many, many, many sigs like yours.
The point is that onskins is so disstinctive, that when someone else does it. The witch hunt begins.. you see? If onskins style was broadly used, this sig would have been, a 'good job' with everyones responce. Just stop and think to yourself next time you see a sig. How many times has this guy used a C4D, and or image> apply image> with some sort of filter and set the layer to lighten? ALOT. and no one gets flamed for using that style.... and according to you, everyone using a C4D is plagurising becuase they all folow the same path of the 'image, apply image'.

Some people are probably thinking im an idiot for opposing your groundings on this because you are super admin and all that. Do not condesend me. you have no right to and it gives you an extremely pretencious look in th eyes of someone who doesnt think admins have the right to do whatever they want. which is in all fact true. but as an admin you have the responsibility of not doing wrong.
