Default 3D Grid tutorial

Ok as promised, here's the tute. This should give you something similar to the image below. I've also included a second image which shows what can be achieved with it.

New Doc: 300 x 300 px

1: Pick two colors you like. Any colors at all. I suggest a light and a dark color.

2: Filters>Render>Clouds

3: Filters>Render>Difference Clouds (Mark you hooked me a long time ago! [bustagut] [bustagut] )

Now we have happy little clouds. Mr. Ross would be proud. I've found that the following settings are the best. You can experiment all you want.

4: Filters>Texture>Patchwork :
Square Size: 10
Relief: 15
If you change the settings here, you wont get the same effect. It'll end up look more like a woven basket, which you may or may not want!

5: Filters>Blur>Motion blur : About 150

6: Filters>Sharpen>Unsharpen Mask:
Amount: 92
Radius: 35.6
Threshold: 0

Now the effect you should have right now is cool enough by itself, and the final effect is really just a variation off of this. I'm sure you advanced kids know where it's going from here! [shhh]

7: Duplicate the original layer and Edit>Transform>90 CCW

8: Set the blend mode of the top layer to lighten and bam! 3d Grid. Below is the final effect and some other ones I thought were fun! I hope you enjoyed.

Thanks for the tutorial Lompoc42
It's mainly the crosshatch that has my interest. I have to try that one later this day. Thanks [righton]

Crosshatch was my favorite also. Kinda gives you a start to a circuit board or something. It's definitely a neat effect.

Very glad you guys liked. It's not exactly the next slice of bread, but it's a cool little trick I suppose.
