Default Ah someone knows about a Tut which will create this...

Tnak you Wendy ;\

The List:

1. Create a new Dokument 500*500 white backround.
2. Create a new Layer...
3. Using the rectangle marque and build a selection for the paper (the size how you like it)
4. Filling the seletion with a soft grey... ???
5. Using the clouds or maybe different clouds filter (Filter/rendering/clouds or / different clouds a few times (CTRL+F).)
dont lose the selection and use the the crystallize filter or maybe using the polygone lasso
to rip the edges of the paper where you want them to be...

(Not sure about 5. really but I would use it for creating the dirty effect of the paper.)

6. Lower the opacue of that Layer.
7. Create another Layer above our first layer.
8. Ctrl+click on the first layer to its selection click on layer 2 and fill it with a soft yellow.
9. Also using the clouds filter a few times lower the opaque...
10. Change the blending mode of layer 2 to overlay?
11. Use the 1 px brush draw the soft blue lines...
Remember The Original one had a lot of different colors for different lines...
Looks like 1. lines soft blue next line above it another more softer blue but this variates a lot ... Sometimes the lines are 3 px with 3 different colors used...
So when all blue lines are done (I wonder if that couldn't be made because of a patter / pattern fill to don't wasting time?! But I'm not sure how many space I should take between the lines and
how big the size of the Dokument for the pattern should / must be for filling the notebook the way
he did with his lines...

12. Afther all lines are created, ctrl+click the first layer (or second?) and use the filter/ distorsion/Spherize it looks like he did to me?

13. Click the first layer then ctrl+j to make a copy of it (make some copys under the original paper layer, then use ctrl+t to transform the new created layers and also turn the layers a few degress
to the left so they don't lay on the dokumnet exatcly as our base paper layer...(horrible
explaining from myself huh??)

bye the way not sure about it but am I writing a tut here??? *

14. Move one Layer we created and which lay's under our base Paper layer, to the right a few pixels.
Use Layer Styles maybe an inner shadow and a drop shadow so that the Paper itself will not look
like a simple flat paper ... (like if you have a paper in your hand and then pressing your hands
on the right side of your paper together then reopen your hands ???? I don't know how to explain
but you can see what I mean exactly from the original when you look on the paper which lay's under
the original base layer to the right...

15. For that Paper we also need to create the holes for our rings (we don't draw rings for that paper here, only for the base paper layer but we want to make the holes ripped also...
For that effect I would use a circle selection on the left side of the paper and for the ripped
edges of the holes using a marque rectangle or better a polygone lasso adding that to our circle selection and pressing del to cut off...
I had to do that 3 times till we are in the top of that paper...
Also I need to use an inner shadow for the ripped holes I think...

16. Back on the base paper layer I need to make 3 circle selections on the left side of the paper but not to close to the edge... press del for every selection...
Afther that I would maybe inner shadow or just this:

With the selection active contract it by lets say 2 px feather 1 px fill with a medium grey...
For all three holes but sometimes move the selection a few px up or down before filling them with
the medium grey. Color may vary depends on the original example...

17. Now the same for our base paper layer (layer1) but the circles need to be smaller (maybe half of the size as we did before... Same technic here...

18. For the rings create a new layer use the rectangle marquee also ctrl+t for perspective ....[????]
hell what is that called in english???? to move them a few pixels up but like I say perspective...

19. When we're done with it use layer style gradient fill + small drop shadow...

20. Same for the different paper layers we have use a small drop shadow...

21. for the crack in the paper on the right top corner from the original example maybe a polygone lasso
building the crack... move the crack a few pixels to the right turn it a few degress and use a very
little drop shadow with lover the opaque for the drop shadow a few percent...

So Mark!

I did my best that was really hard stuff for me I am still thinking how all the options for ps you will
call in english [confused]

by the way is there an option in photoshop to change the whole language for it to english ???
that would be cool cauze I'm always searching when I use english tuts for the right options which where
mentioned in those tuts...

kindest regards
s!

Storm...

Ok that's excellent that you've gone ahead and worked some things out using PS... but that's not what i asked you to do.

All i wanted you to do was describe to me in words, what you are looking at when you see that notepaper. Give me details. eg. white paper, light blue lines, etc etc... don't try to figure things out just yet. Just think about what it is you're looking at.

There's not a whole lot to take note of... so now let's start this again ok. Give me a detailed list of what you see when you look at that notebook paper.

I know this must be killing you to have to keep going with it... but i'm being serious about showing you how to learn to recreate in Photoshop, the things you see in the real world. And this simple piece of notepaper is NOT one of the most difficult things you can create. So it makes for a good exercise. :B

Let's start again please. [excited]

Default Ah someone knows about a Tut which will create this...

again :-)

Top Paper:

white, soft grey and maybe brown or light yellow, color scheme I see, inside the paper...
the yellow color is at specific angles on the paper not overall, like clouds with soft pastel colors...
the paper itself has shadows around the corner which isn't really large more flat and small...
shadow itself is medium grey not a dark one...

the paper has been ripped at the bottom, the right corner and a really little on top...
paper had rounded corners, on the top right corner and bottom right corner...
on the right side of the paper their is a large cut which isn't at the same angle as the top paper slightly turned to the right that cuttet piece of paper also has a shadow...

a really thin soft red line goes from top to the bottom of the paper...
blue lines some are bigger then the other ones, they have different colors soft to white blue to soft grey...

on the left of the red line, three circles and inside them are once more a circle one at the bottom, one to the right but smaller then the one from the bottom and one at the top but mostly with the same size as the first circle just 2 -3 px nudged up...

colors for the inner circles I could see, dark grey soft grey...
what I also can see is that the inner circles all have a border thinner, sometimes bigger ...

on the left of our circle I see another set of many circle mostly the same technic is used as mentioned above I think... the only difference I can see is that only dark grey is used to fill the circle in the circle...

left to it I see small rectangles filled with a gradient black to white mirrored...
they lookes to me nudged up 2px 3px 4px perhaps perspective like: \ instead of -

under our paper on top there is another paper behind...
mostly build like the first one....

The difference I could see is that the Paper looks spherized to me on the right side...
also I could see a difference on the paper color scheme, looks more darken like a shadow would be over it...

The blue lines on the paper aren't straight, but I guess that comes from spherizing he paper...

ah one thing I noticed!
the Paper which looks like it would be behind the original one I think that isnt so...
For me it looks like the one which is behind is the one which is on top!

huh?
I guess thats it

regards
s!

Ok then, excellent description Storm. Every detail has been scrutinized.

Now...

Do it again, but... use as few words as possible to describe each separate element of the paper. Just do it for the top piece, because the others would just be clones.

Use as few words as possible.
This part is what will make it easier to understand what you have to do in Photoshop to create the effect.

Remember... use as few words as possible and describe to me what that top piece of paper looks like. [righton]

[shocked] You're brutal Mark!

But then, stOrM! this exercise really works! And it's a good one for anyone to go through when they're trying to duplicate in PS what they see with their eyes! [righton]

Mark! :}

There is a method to his madness...

| Ok here we go:

paper = rectangle = 2 round borders right side of the paper,
paper colors = white, grey, and pastel yellow color, clouds filter...

ripped edges around the paper...

6 circles on the left side, 3 bigger and 3 smaller inside the other 3
dark grey filling for the circle small inner shadow = layer style...
smaller circles filled with different positions and colors...

blue lines on top of the paper 3 different colors used on some positions...
red vertical line 1 px soft red color...

many small circles same filling and technic style used like
I saw from the first 6 ones...

rectangles on the left of our many circles, gradient filling
black to white mirrowed...

drop shadows for the paper...

crack on the paper little rotated to the right...

hard to put it into a short form because I see so many details...

kindest regards

Hey it's getting better Storm. Good going. [righton]

BUT... do it again! Use fewer words still. You can do it.
Give me the shortest list you can, with only enough detail to make it clear to me what you are describing.

We're looking for the most primary elements now Storm. No extraneous details.

I know... you're getting a bit confused... but trust men, there's a method to my madness. [sly] 8[

And for anyone else reading/following this topic... you should do the same thing with a paper and pencil at home. Don't everyone post to this topic. It'll get too confusing/congested. But follow along if you like.

Once you get this "visual" list done enough, you'll see where i'm going with this.

Paper with color scheme = white, soft grey, light brown and pastel yellow.
blue horizontal small lines with different colors blue soft blue, soft grey.
soft red vertical small line.
circles different sizes / inner shadow / circles filled with grey mid grey corner around them...
rectangles filled with a gradient black-white mirrowed.
drop shadows around the paper.
cracks around the paper with different sizes.
ripped peace of paper from the top paper rotated to the right...

Mark!
I really have a problem to make it short as you want cauze I see too much, maybe I should wear sunglasses with really dark glass to see less??

hopefully thats enought for the list??? [confused]

kindest regards

hahaha ok ok... i guess you're close enough... this time. [bustagut]

This is how basic i wanted your list to be:
(i.e. no mention of filters or techniques[/i])

Off-white rectangle.
Blue horizontal lines, evenly spaced.
1 Red vertical line, down left side.
3 holes cut out of rectangle, down left side, evenly spaced.
Small vertical wire coil, running down the left edge of rectangle.

And that's it.
See how BASIC that list is?

And now we'll see WHY we should learn to describe things in this most simplistic manner.

Using my list, can you create a very basic version of the paper?

Creating complex images/scenes Storm has to start with the most basic of ideas. If you try to create a complex image/scene using an extremely detailed list of ideas/concepts, then it'll be harder and more confusing to create your image from scratch.

The idea here is to start off creating a basic model of the object/scene, then build on that until all of the finer details are in place. We're breaking the creation process down into separate, smaller segments. [righton]

I see Mark!

The thing is creating a basic thing and adding the details later...
