Alistair, to attach the PS file, just "zip it" first!

Shoot! Sorry guys!

I accidentally forgot to "Activate" the extensions for all Photoshop type files. But it's "on" now.

So go ahead and just attach your PSd files, Actions, filters, etc... They don't "need" to be zipped up unless you need to make their file size smaller.

Default Selection tools are inaccurate.

Alistair

Downloaded your file to see what this problem looked like.
I had to set the blending mode to Dissolve to duplicate the type of jaggedness your fills have.

I remember you had mentioned that switching between the Normal & Dissolve mode caused no change. Sounds like a PS file is hosed possibly.
Maybe the Normal mode is defaulting to the Dissolve mode.
Just a guess on my part.

Your settings in the download image looked good to me.

Default Selection tools are inaccurate.

I downloaded the file and I'm pretty sure (for almost 100%) that you filled the selections with the Paint Bucket Tool's blending mode set to Dissolve (in the options bar) and probably by accident.

Do a test; create a new document, create an anti-aliased selection, select the Paint Bucket Tool, make sure that anti-alias for this tool is checked and that the blending mode of this tool is set to normal.
The only conclusion I can make if the problem still occurs, is that your Photoshop is messed up.

Resetting the preference file didn't help earlier, because you used the same document. If you would have created a new document or selection you would have used the new default blending settings for the Pain Bucket Tool (normal) and your new selections would have been smooth.
