Its on rbg colour, should it be on 8/bit? I think i want it on 16/bit but for some reaon it's on 8 bit [confused] I didnt change anything at all lately. No new software, no new hardware since my new hd, which was.... long time ago. Nothing new, at all. I didnt set my card to a higher speed. It just all of a sudden started happening out of nowhere. one sec...

ahahaha Alistair i was only "reminding" you to check that option. Wasn't implying you're a n00b.
So did you say you're in RGB mode then? 8bit is normal, don't change that.
The only other time i've seen this happen is when you're in Bitmap Mode. Make sure you're not. Open a new doc, select RGB from the menu and use the Lasso tool to create a simple selection. Then fill it with black and Deselect.
That's about all i can think of at the moment. :B

its not in bitmap mode. This is really aggravating me now, and I really dont want to uninstall. I mean, if it comes that far I will.... but I realy dont want to mess with it. |

hmm.. ok well then if you're NOT in Bitmap mode, then there's no reason i can think of why you have aliasing problems.
Are you sure that your document is set too 100% zoom? And that's it's not sitting at like 66%? Cause that would do this too.
But other than that... i fear an unInstall is pending buddy. }P
Don't forget to move your custom stuff somewhere else while you UN and INstall. [righton]

Selection tools are inaccurate. Post #18 | | Guest | Selection tools are inaccurate. Alistair ... just a thought ... in a past post you said you were updating PS7 regulary (at the time it was suggested you turn off the update feature) ... I know you said you hadn't added or changed anything but if it's still on auto update .... just thought I'd mention it as your prob is confounding everyone

| All kidding aside, Alistair, I've been there... wondering why I've got all these "jaggies" happening and then have noted that for some bizarre reason, my blend layer has defaulted to dissolve. [doh] Believe me, it's driven me crazy more than a couple of times. Sooooo.... when I saw your image, that's *exactly* what it reminded me of.
[confused] Yours is a very confounding problem and it would seem that you will, indeed, have to do an uninstall and re-install as all other avenues seem to have been exhausted....

Actually, come to think of it, Wendy's suggestion has merit. That's the first thing i thought of when i saw those images. They don't look like "normal" jaggies at all. They look like "Dissolve" jaggies. Alistair...
Create a new fresh document... make some selections and fill them just like you did before. Then attach that PSD file to a post and let us open it on our systems.
This will solve the mystery once and for all. :B
