A good, solid first half was produced by an over-tired, hard-worked team. Maloney threatened early form a free-kick but there were no other great chances. Scotland had more of the possesion but created very little in the first period of the half.
However in the 31st minute a free-kick from Malonely was whipped over the wall and into the left-hand side of the goal. The faroes goalkeeper was rooted to the spot and Scotland had the lead. 4 minutes later Scotland made it 2. Great play from Fletcher, including a nutmeg, resulted in a floated cross which combined with a perfectly timed run by O'Connor resulted in a superb chance. This was not taken after a good top by the keeper but O'connor managed to rcieve the rebound and slot it into the net.
The second half was a very poor performance and Scotland were lucky not to concede a goal or two. Only a sensation last ditch tackle by Gary Naysmith stopped a certain goal from 2 yards. The Faroes also had a few decent chances but there best chance came in the 87th minute. A 50/50 ball was chipped over McManus' head and their striker had a clear run through on goal. Gordon stood up tall for as long as possible but the ball was chipped over him. Luckily for the Tarten Army the ball rebounded off the bar and was eventually cleared.
However Scotland can be pleased with the result. The Faroes has been a horrible for the scots in recent years so a 2-0 win can be regarded as a good result. Well done Scotland.
