I would like to make a gradient like one that comes with PS : gray value

Very simple...

Add a "Posterize" Adjustment Layer above a Linear grad layer. Set the levels to 12, or whatever number of "bands" you want.

You can also do this with any other type of gradient, including a Clouds layer.

I win! I win! I win! 8}

Hey just for fun... on the gradient layer run the "FILTER>Pixelate>Crystalize..." filter. Default settings. :B

Do you mean like this, Ljiljana?

If so, just click on the Gradient Swatch in the Options menu.
This opens the Gradient Editor.

Click on the sliders to assign custom colours.

Move the sliders closer together for a sharper 'edge'.

Click the Save button to save it.

You should be able to use the preset manager to create a custom gradient palette.

Yes , I know to make gradients but the only one I could not make is the one with the shades of one solid color.
I tried to put the sliders closer but still didn`t get that sharp line.

oooooh you want a CUSTOM gradient that has hard banding in it???! Ok i get ya know. You didn't mention "custom" before. [confused]

That CAN be done... but why would you want to? The gradient would have a fixed amount of stripes that would be unchangeable. Wouldn't you rather just use the method i gave initially? That allows you to change the banding stripes on-the-fly.

Creating the banded gradient is a bit of work. And i just created on with 5 bands. More would definately be more involved. But so you know... you have to use TWO markers at each line: 1 assigned to the lefthand colour, the other assigned to the following colour. They both need to be positioned on the exact same number; i.e. 80, 60, 40, 20. The first and last markers are single.

The best solution I could find is shown in my attachment.

First make sure that you maximize the gradients window, by pulling one of the corners.
For every band use a slider A & B (of the same color).
Then move B over C.
Sometimes you have to fiddle a bit if it doesn't work out the first time.
In some cases I had to move C over B first (don't ask me why).

I don't know if this is what you want, but this is the best solution I could come up with if you want a custom gradient
