Default stacked layers

Suppose I transfer a file from another program (in .psd) containing 3 layers to PS. OK, 3 layers show in PS. Now I transfer another file with 4 layers to PS and expect to see 7 layers and so on with more files and layers but only the last ones transferred show in PS. What am I doing wrong? How can I have ALL layers (i.e 3+4+...) show in PS ? Thanks

Which programs are you transferring from and to? And how are you transferring, drag & drop or copy & paste?
These options can only move one layer at a time.

Only way I can think of transferring multiple layers is possibly(?) dragging a layer set. Haven't tried, just a guess.

Tried creating layer set and it does work.

In PS 7 ( I believe in Ver 6 also) if you link layers together (or put them in a layer set) you can drag and drop them into a new doc, and they should all show up, and stay in order.
But I`m not sure that`s what you`re asking. It sounds as if the new layers are overwriting the ones already there ? Creating a new doc for each set, maybe ?
More info, please.
