Default removing matte on emoticons

I understand how to remove the matte by selecting the background color where the gif will be placed. But what do you do when the emoticon is going to be used on a discussion board that uses two different backgrounds, like this board?

Thanks in advance

Sorry pdog182 but I'm a bit confused. [confused] Do you mean "add a matte" so that your shadowing or g-blurring will blend into the background?

If so, I would choose a matte colour somewhere between the two backgrounds or, if there's no shadowing or g-blurring involved, I would go with no matte at all.

thanks wbiss, an intermediate matte color sounds like it will do the trick.

One more question though: how do I select a matte color in imageready? I'm trying to animate my emoticons.

In IR go to Window->Optimize. On the 'optimize palette' choose GIF and click the little arrow on the side to open up the palette's fly-out menu. Choose "show options". Here you can choose your matte colour pdog182.
