See, I didn't really translate: I merely distilled the essence out of the text. The writer has included lots of shortcuts that are given consistently written between straight brackets.

calque means layer
d?grad? means gradient
conserver means keep, save
haut means top (of the doc)
bas means bottom (of the doc)
supprimer means delete
blanc means white

hey...why not try to distill the meaning of that second tut?

What I did stOrM! was make the selection (I used the pen tool) and fill it with a white to transparent linear gradient on a separate layer. I then g-blurred it by .5 pix and set the blend layer to "soft light".

As awesome as your example looks, yeah, you have more of a spherical reflection happening, as opposed to the sides dropping down and off.

Choice of selection method is strictly personal.
