Default End of the world

If the world were going to explode/be fried by the sun/sucked into a black hole...

Would you really care?
I ask this because I came to thinking that if EVERYONE were going to die in one event, everything on the planet, I really wouldn't be mad or afraid of dying. I guess I have the feeling of "we're all in the same boat" so I don't care, especially if there was nothing we could do about the doomsday event. I'd kinda just quietly accept the end.

So, do you feel this same way? And if a life-erasing doomsday event were to happen, what would your preferred event be?

I'd go with a black hole personally. (however unlikely it is)

I'd go with everything just disappearing into thin air.
No struggle, no suffering, just emptiness.

And, I would panic actually, at first. I don't like giving my life up even though everybody's gonna do it, so I would try to do my part, whatever that is.

But yeah, like you said, if it was inevitable, i really wouldn't mind.
Last day on Earth, get that girl I've always truly loved ask her to marry me and spend the rest of the day with family. Everyone can afford to be ignorant then, thus blissful.

Well, I don't see that coming anytime soon, so NO TOUCHIE TOUCHIE ME ME.

I'd never accept it, life has existed for billions of years, it's not going to go down without a fight!

You should read the book "Childhood's End"

Its sci-fi story about exactly this subject.

Science fiction writer Issac Asimov wrote a short story on exactly this subject and he believed it to be the best short story he ever wrote. It's called "The Last Question". It ended with something that looks like genesis O.o

The Last Question -- Isaac Asimov

But let's be completely selfish for a moment and ask ourselves what happens at the end of our lives? What does it matter however the world ends?

Well, that was a great link.

But, to be honest - thats a great question. Nobody knows where we go at the end of our lives. I want to believe that since I have accepted Christ that I'll go to heaven. Thats a good thought believing in that. And it really doesn't matter if it ends, what do we have to save except for our lives as they are?

It is uncertain if the dying sun will swallow the earth or not. Although it would certainly melt the mountains (= ocean floor material).
