Suggestion!

I didn't see any comments or suggestion forums, so I figure this is the best place for it to go...

If you guys are really devoted to making this an insane and popular board then this is definitely a good thing for you guys to mull over. If this is just a side place to talk and the main focus is the main page with the wallpapers etc. then ignore this....

Ok, as a warning, this will take some money and devotion, but at a site that I like a lot, here's the link...http://www.deadlyfiregfx.com/forums/index.php?act=idx they set this thing up, where for every post you make, you get a credit, and you can put these credits you earn towards purchasing tutorials etc. People set up shops and sell their .PSD's and Tut's and Full Rights for credits and it's like one big business. I know that a lot of people over at Deadly love this, and I think, with the right devotion, it could make this board even better than it is and draw a lot of new attention.

What would be the advantage over just sharing tutorials and .PSD's for free like we do now?

Well for starters, the more prominant graphic makers would be more willing to share their .PSD's and Tut's if they knew that they were getting something valuable in return. And I mean lets face it, ther are plenty of people with excellent resources and .PSD's who just choose not to share...nothing wrong with that, but it's the truth.

It also would make it a lot more fun...

Hmm it's a not bad idea but I dunno if it can work in the SA mainframe. As Andrew rightly pointed out, we do that anyway. Also SA isn't here primarily to exchange resources, we're here to supply wallpapers & graphics freely to people across the Net.

My philosophy on this is that if someone wants to give out something it's up to them, at the end of the day you are the Designer and not someone else. Like me, I don't like sharing my PSD's out as I know there is some sad lowlife out there who would rip my Work. Otherwise I would give them out, I don't want people exploiting something I've worked hours on doing. It would make me feel a bit shit, selfish as it sounds I know but it's up to the person. People don't give out stuff cause they don't get anything in return, it's the fact that thier work could be ripped to hell and someone could profit from it. I've had it before and it feels pretty shit, i'm prepared to help people and give advice but you don't become a fantastic designer over midnight. Takes weeks, months & even years. I'm not saying this just so people can take advantage and rip, become good or whatever, it's just a factor which could be made troublesome if we were to proceed with it.

Think I saw a Thread in the Resource Section about a PSD. Swap, which sounds pretty good if you can trust the user your exchanging with.

I think things are fine as it is, a good number of people just come on here to leech anyway.

I know what system you're talking about, but I don't think we'll move in that direction. I know it works some places, but we already have our system set up and it's working. I think plp did a great job in explaining the downside of that system. But thanks for the suggestion, I like the idea, just not in our context.
