Rep Power: 2 | Crespo Loan: What warrants this gift?
Are we getting jipped or what?
I mean, seriously, we spent £16.8m on this waste of space, then proceeded to loan him out with 2/3 wages paid. Then he returned and was guff. So we loaned him again, with a similar "we'll pay most his wages for ya" deal and NOW... we're getting jipped again.
Can't we just sell the bleeder?
I get the impression Chelsea are seen as a bit of a joke when it comes to business. Not just with the high price tags but the freebee loan deals. Veron is another one, he's actually still on the Chelsea books. But you wouldn't know it cause we've got him on a loan deal to some club in Argentina I think. And guess what? Mister Shevchenko has bashfully suggested a loan to AC Milan. Well, what a bloody surprise! We pay the cash and then loan them back. Is it just me or are Chelsea business clowns?
Many of you who have seen me posting would know I'm always harping on about this possible Adriano loan deal which was rumoured in connection to Crespo. Well, really, if it's him or any other Inter player in a part-exchange then that would make a little more sense. Surely Chelsea aren't just giving away another player and wasting yet more money?? Surely there is a silver lining, so that we're not getting royally shafted again?
I mean, I know Crespo didn't want to come back and he never really got used to playing in England but, really...can anyone make any sense of this crazy deal?

Calm down mate, have a kitkat.
Sheva always said I want to finish my career at Chelsea. It is the journos tha invent things. He went to pay the bills of his flat in Milan and a mountain was made out of it.
Crespo was Mourinho's decision to please him and his family. You are right about being mad at the decisions on Veron and Crespo.
You know what ? Mutu has been voted the best player in Serie A.
And this was also Jose man management who , instead of talking sense to the player and put his shoulder to cry on, actually phoned the drug agency to catch him read-handed at Cobham. This was the biggest loss of all, cos that boy would have replaced Zola in our history. |

Calm down? You must have me mistaken for the teeth grinding, ten-a-day smoker Adrian Mutu.
I don't agree with your Mutu-Zola comparison. You're comparing a coke snorting, smoker with Gianfranco Zola - perhaps the most gifted player to grace the Premiership. I take your point though, Chelsea fluffed that one up good and proper. Then again, he was playing quite dire for us at the time, perhaps they wanted a quick get-out.
Kenyon marshalled this move for Crespo and seeing as he's supposed to be a the grand businessman, there MUST be more than meets the eye to this deal. Surely, big Pete's got a trick up his sleeve like... I dunno, we get Ibrahimovic or Adriano, or Toldo or something. Or perhaps he's made them promise to send Chelsea Christmas card... Yeah nice one Kenyon, you big bald moron.

Totally agree about Crespo but as you say, there MUST be a silver lining. It would beg belief if this was the last we heard of it so I'd just hold out for a week or so til we hear the whole story.
Maybe Inter will send Chelsea a picnic hamper, the complete 'Lost' boxset or some fine china.

Crespo must be sold, pointless paying millions for a player who doesnt like the English game
at least an exchange for an inter player - Adriano if u ask me!

Any club that thinks it's worth paying £30m for Shevchenko who may only have 2 or 3 seasons (if that, going on his notable lack of pace this season) left in him as a top striker is capable of any craziness on the transfer market. Still you got Ballack for nothing, though so far that doesn't look like such a good deal either. |

Whether a player makes it abroad of course depends on the chemistry with other players and the balance in teams. Crespo never looked that good with Chelsea but he did alright with Milan (good enough to put Man Utd out of the Champions League yet again and he looked the business in the 2005 Champions Final too). Shevchenko also looked pretty good with Milan for a long time but is close to becoming a £30m write-off with Chelsea. (I don't think he came to Chelsea for the right reasons. It seemed to have more to do with having his kids learn English and other factors outside football).
Players like Zola adapted extremely well to the Prem while others never seemed to acclimatize. Just as most English players have found it difficult to adapt to Italian football (John Charles being the most notable success in the early 60s. Gazza was a very qualified success and Ince didn't do too bad at Inter. On the other hand, Jimmy Greaves, Denis Law and Ian Rush, all great players, never managed to adapt. In recent years, English players have more or less stopped going to Italy altogether). All things considered, it isn't easy making it abroad where the style of play is different and it usually takes even the best a season or two to adapt.
