Filter or Plug-in for the "annoying tv line" effect?? does anyone know what i'm talking about?? i think i saw it... and i want that effect for the project i'm doing, i've seen it being used in a few pictures... but have NO IDEA where to get it, or where to start if it's not a plug-in or series of filters.... thanks... keep up...

i found the thing i'm lookin for... but once again, i am a n00b, so i don't know where to install at...

Those lines are called scan lines and happen because a tv screen is just one dot traveling across the screen and creates a whole bunch of lines, and some cameras capture these lines in a way that they look like ribs, sort of like a moire pattern, but in lines...a monitor holding a vga signal is different and has a much higher "scan rate". Just fyi. You can also create that pattern using the blending options. After specifying a pattern that is 2 pixels, one above the other, one black, one white, you can choose pattern overlay and scale it to however you want, hide it, change its blend mode, etc. Hope this helps.... Oh yeah, to make the effect more realistic(or just give it a more genuine effect, you should add some noise to it.
to do this:
1. set the pattern overlay to a layer(right click the little f and choose create layer)
2. (to keep your effects on independent layers) stick a new layer over that filled with 50% grey(or any grey), and go to filter, add noise.
3. Set this layer to overlay, soft light, hard light, vivid light or linear light to the desired effect. Also change the opacity as desired.

ok, i have the ACTION file there... but how do i use it in PS?? like where do i go to activate it on my picture?? and thanks tranq... i'll try that too... keep up...

First make sure that your 'Actions' palette is showing. If it isn't, go to Window/Actions.

From this palette, click on the little triangle to bring up the fly-out menu and choose "load actions"!

When your action has been loaded, click on the arrow beside the file folder to pop the action open. Then click on the first arrow under the folder and press the 'play action' (little arrow at the bottom of the palette).
