In my opinion I think West Ham will become the new Leeds. I know some may find that strange because they have a billionaire back rolling them, but over a period of time any club (inc. Chelsea) have to become self sufficient. Egger Magnuson seems to me to be a very fickle chairman and will walk when it gets tough.
They have signed a £70k a week deal with Parker, and lets not forget Matthew Upson & Lucas Neil signed for the same as well. They just seem to think that if they chuck enough money at things, something will stick but it does not work in football. Leeds being the prime example.
Two or three years down the line when the chairman has spent £250m (£100m to buy them) on the Hammers and they still have not got into the Champions League, will he just have another tantrum and walk away leaving the club with a wage bill of £70m a year. I suspect he will.
By the way if you think I'm just some bitter jealous fan, I support Aston Villa and we have a chairman who is now willing to build a sustainable club without risking it's future.
Just think £210,000 - A WEEK - for Parker, Upson and Neil. Not exactly world class players are they and who else is gonna join soon. There are claims they have offered £90k a week for Johnson, and he is a good player but not a £90k a week player. It's £30k more than Rooney...I rest my case.
