How do I draw a straight dotted line? I can get the straight part but how do I make it dotted?

Hi, Wingnut! you have to adjust the brush spacing to do so.
In PS 6, with your brush active, right+click then choose the first option edit brush, you'll see a slider to adjust the spacing.

In PS 7, on the option bar, select the options for your brush (or the brush palette) then click on "brush tip shape" in the left column, the bottom slider needs to be adjusted over 100% to get that effect.
