Default Vectoring

Vectoring sounds like a hard technique, and people seem to use it a lot on posters (to give the subject a worn/aged effect). The way I blag this is to Desaturate the render and play about with Brightness/Contrast & Smart Blur.

I just wondered if anybody could explain vectoring with a tutorial, or maybe give a useful link?

Thanks in advance,

Leeky

http://www.vexels.net/tutorials.php

best site for tips there ^

It's done using the pen tool and is a very long process but can give a great effect, however most of the 'vectors' you see on here are not, they are vexels, vector immitations that are the same look but can't be infinitely scaled, which is exactly what a vector is, an image that can be made bigger without losing any quality.

If you want to do Vectors seriously, I suggest you download Adobe Illustrator. It's a bit tough to start with and I'm still learning with it, but it's the best programme out there for making real vectors.

Yeah pretty much what jtm said. Photoshop is a bitmap based program, which means it works with Pixels. Illustrator works with Vectors which is images that have been calculated by the software itself, thus it doesnt lose quality like jtm said.

I do Vectors in Photoshop but not proper ones, only half vectors lol

As the above said, Illustrator is the best although with Photoshop, you CAN vector. It's basically simplifying what you see and re-building the image again. I'm currently working on one and all I can say it's already one of my best.
