Ignore the above poster mate, he's giving you no help at all.

It's really quite simple. Do a plain Black BG and add your render. THAT'S IT!

Now all you need to do now is print it off, put it in the washing machine and HEY PRESTO!

WTF both posts are totally useless, the bg is done using textures,stocks and grunge brushes. Takes time and patience to get as good as Ste who made that wall.
