Just a little too in your face at the moment due to the bright colours and busy background. Some negative space in the background will help to break that up and aid with some depth in other words you need some black/dark areas in your background. Using a smaller canvas size will help you with the backgrounds, with the size of stock used there is no need for the canvas to be that big. The smaller the canvas the less you need to worry about making it look great.
I'd try out a few tuts to help you with backgrounds and colouring
