A good tip for ya... break that splash page image into smaller pieces. Make the animated parts their own image. Right now the entire image is 200+kb. That's way too big, especially for just one image. Under optimal internet circumstances... that's a 40+ second wait for a 56k user. [saywhat] And that's just to "see" your "front door"... never mind getting into the actual site.
Break it into 3 pieces -- top ani saved as Gif, middle section saved as Jpg @ med compression, bottom ani saved as Gif. See if that helps get that file size down. :B | [righton] [righton] [righton]
That is a great idea... now how do I go about doing that. [confused] I took the image (animation) into Photoshop and cut out the middle portion like you suggested. Now how do I put both the .jpg (middle) and the .gif (top and bottom) together as one aligned file to upload to my site?
Or, as I reread your comment, how would I go about putting three files (Top, Middle, and Bottom) stacked on top of one another to look as if it was one file? Hope that makes sense? for the time being I?m just going to lower the size of the initial animation and see how that works. Though I would like to learn how to slice up and image in multiple loading parts for quicker viewing.
Thx,
-Joe *EDIT*
Nevermind... I've messed around with the idea on another page and have found a way through my troubles. thx though.. If you would like to see, click the link below. http://www.joekiske.com/movie.htm |

when you click on a movie IE opens with the viewer in the middle..... then IE dissapears and you are left with only the viewer in which it continues to download and then play the movie

hmm... I've tested it on two different machines. What happens for me is the movie opens on a separate window that is attached to the left hand part of the the IE window..

Joe, I just checked out your website and you did a great job optimizing it. Loaded super fast. I'm at work and they have computers from the 1950's here ... lol ... they still have Windows 95!
I love the rollover effect on your left navmenu links. Those are cool. A good-looking site such as yours you should design your own Cascading Stylesheet for it. I'm no web professional, but I designed my first stylesheet and it wasn't that hard at all.

I just got done designing something extra for my site.. So far I have put a good amount of time into it and was wondering what people think. If you want feel free to check it out. The URL is www.joekiske.com/test.htm . I really need to change the wording of the text; you'll see what I'm talking about once you read it. I typed that running on lack of sleep and after a 10 hour work day. Quote: |

Once I get that down I'm sure it will eliminate a lot of my design issues. That and I can't wait to learn flash. [righton]

[righton] Looking good Wait!
I don't know what you mean about the 'wording', though... [confused] The wording on what, specifically? Did I miss something, I'm wondering?
