Background and text go well together, render looks poor compared to it. Not blend in at all.

First version is far better than the second, like Niran said render isn't very well blent in.
And coming from Manchester, I can safley say the skyline in the backround is not that of Manchesters. Chicago's?

Just do the regular gaussian blur then soft light lower the opacity of one of the layers.

I never do more than that and in my opinion my pic effects are alright...

Really good work though with this, I like it.
