i get a nef file then convert to tiff in photoshop...this is 60mb file...then clean the noise up with neat image...this becomes a 30mb file....

what happened?...quality is still there?...i can still print poster size prints vs the original 60mb file correct?

thanks

I'm going to guess that because the noise was removed, there's now much less 'data' within the image file. Hence it's drop in file size. Every other aspect about the file though should be the same.

I'm not familiar with that nef format though. [honesty]

mrdinh, after you removed the noise from the TIFF file in Neatime, in which format did you save the file?

I'm asking you because I did a test.
I opend a TIFF file in Neatimage Pro v2.1, I removed the noise and saved the file again as a TIFF file.
The result; the file size of this new file is exactly the same as the original file, not a byte more or less.

Was your original file compressed in any way? Zip, LZW, JPEG?

If the compression scheme changed (i.E. Neat image would save images with compression on, nad the files had it turned off before), of if there is less data due to the de-noizing, there might be a difference of size in a compressed file, not in an uncompressed one, but to that extend, it seems doubtful!
