The lines are too intensive, very much too intensive. It doesnt work with the render which is blurred. I'm not sure about the style of that wall. Doesn't work for me.
I think that you just have too much light going on the background.
I think that the stroke around the render is a technique that some people use in their sigs, and they look pretty good when done approprietly, altough its pretty whored, and not original anymore, but its ok.
The text does need more creativity, when you have great text the wallpaper looks 10 times better.
I would't use it as my desktop because as i said before, there is too much going on, and i want something relaxing to look at.
I hope that my comments are useful, because im no expert, but i can give you my opinion in what someone looks in a wallpaper.

and the box that text is in looks stupid aswell

I think the tech-trendwhoreness as in this wallpaper has been used out. Good ideas with adding details into the bg, but making them subtle and blending them in better around the focal pt, i.e. Henry would be much better. Just keep on keepin' on.
