I would like to introduce you a new contest for you people who want to buy a domain! Seeing as most of you are exsperts i'm sure you will bring the full potencial I need for a webdesign for my new portfolio design.

If you want to win a domain registerd at www.namecheap.com for 1 year. All you need to do is make a 'PORTFOLIO WEBDESIGN' for me. And I will choose the design I feel I like the most. If I find none which reaches my liking then there will be no reward.

For the design I would like the following:

Colors

Black/blue those colors grey also is fine

Style
---
Simple but unique something like the SA home page is nice.

Text/header/footer
----
For the header just put Matt's Online Portfolio

You can't expect people to work for that cheap. Especially considering the fact that its so high-risk, ie there's a chance that we might get nothing at all.

I feel no designer on SA should take part. Its just degrading to all designers that you're willing to give less than $10 for more than 4 hours of work. Thats a maximum of around $2.5 an hour. Less than minimum wages if i'm not wrong. This isn't like a banner or a logo, its an ENTIRE site. Just think about what you're asking.

What the hell is wrong with you? You dont even know who I am and I make an offer of 50$ and you have some sort of retarded go.

$50 is still very low for a web design. a good web design takes ages to make. and this is one of the main problem why people like me that studied graphic design cant find a job that easily. company's want the cheapest so they do it like you do now. find a gfx community, pay a kid 50$ and run with the design. normally you pay like 2000-5000$ for a professional design. a portfolio site goes away for +-1000$.

First i need to photoshop (8-10 hours work)
then slice the parts and do some minors adjustments (2-4 hours)
then i need to do the hardest part making the xhtml, css code and php/mysql (20-30 hours)

so if you pay a person 50$ for it you are just laughing in his face. the problem these day's are that the ki9ds don’t care if they only get 50$ for it. to bad but well young guy's are happy with less.

but you take the professional graphic market down. i know you are not doping this alone but 10.000's company's are doing this. and i'm not getting a job because of it.

So piss off and get your portfolio site somewhere else. buy one a template monsters!
and wy do you want a portfolio site? if you can make graphics you can also make a site for yourself... or does it take to long?

I hope this explains it a bit why ritwikr got that pissed. And he is right. Luckily there are more persons that see this problem.
