Thanks Gurch. I appreciate your support. I have been pretty quick to learn most things in PS but that pen tool has got me, I'm afraid. Probably mainly due to my lack of patience and the fact that I have no need for it right now. I guarantee you if I needed it to do a project I would be giving it a higher priority.
Well, I think learning the Pen tool boils down to the Ah-ha! moment. You know, an epiphany of how things work.
One day I sat down to play specifically with the Pen tool. I went through each tool in turn and figured out what it did. Once I understood Bezier curves, straight and corner, and how to manipulate them, it was all good.
hey Lee why don't you just grab a clip art image that has a plain background........ delete the background and then ctrl + click the layer to select what is left and then in your paths palet click the make work path down the bottom there and then play with the pen tool....... it may help you to understand it a bit more :B
All this talk about the pen tool made me curious so I had a go with it.
Created some shapes and filled with an egyptian type of pattern , thern duplicated the shape and flipped it verticaly, joined the two together.
Not sure what I made [confused] kind of looks like an egytian bug of something [bustagut]
Great suggestion, Sue.... especially from somebody, like yourself, who has "been there"! [excited]
Yep Lee... you gotta "play" BIG TIME when it comes to the pen tool! And then, one day, like Stroker says, it just kinda "clicks" and becomes second nature! :}
Believe me, there isn't a better "selection tool" around!
I agree with Stroker, too. I'm sure that is exactly what will happen. In most things I've learned in life it has been that...."ohhhhhh, I get it NOW! B7
Sue, that is a GREAT idea. 8) It least I'd have something to strive for other that to make lines on the screen. Just out of curiosity, though, why should I select the pen from the paths pallet? Is that a different pen tool than the one in the left hand tools pallet?
Wendy, the best selection tool? Wow. I never thought of the pen tool as a selection tool. Just a way to make graphics and shapes. That's interesting.
