does anybody know how to make an outline around a player ? please give as most detail as possible because for some strange reason other tutorials never seem to work for me.

I think he wants to know how to do the lines few pixels over player... If I`m right so simply press on that layer with player, press select -> Load selection and select -> modify and choose 3 px. Than create a new layer, and go to edit -> stroke choose 1 px and color whatever you want, than you can`t change the lines blend mode to overlay for a better look. I hope that`s the thing you wanted to know...
