I'm wondering what you think is the most memorable goal ever. It can be memorable for any reason: distance, power, circumstance, etc.
For me, personally, I'd have to say it's a tie between Beckham's last-minute free-kick goal against Greece to send England into the World Cup Finals and Gerrard's last-minute goal against West Ham to send the FA Cup Final into extra time and eventually penalties.
Roberto Carlos @ Real 97-98 I think it was, when he scored that freak goal down the left side trying to make a cross and it cannoned into the far top right corner, just omg
More recent one will be Rooney's volley vs Newcastle in the FA cup, my jaws stayed dropped for minutes when that went in!
hmm...there are a couple (yes I know all my goals come from WC 2006 and Italy but whatever)
1) When Toni scored the winning goal for Italy in World Cup, time literally slowed down for me and when it went passed the goalie, everyone I was watching the game with all started cheering.
2) This one is probably more humorous, In Italy vs. Germany, when Grosso scored the goal everyone I was with during the game was cheering and we were cheering so much cause we knew we were going to the finals when my brother pulled me aside and said Del Piero scored again, it was fucking insane.
3) When Totti scored the winning goal against Australia. That literally had my heart pounding because I kept thinking "Oh shit, what happens if we go into overtime"
i'm going to have to say Maradona's goal of the century for my money. Theres a few others though. Eto'o's goal versus Osaosuna in 2005, a cross from messi, where ronaldihno faked out a defender then passed the ball to eto'o's foot...using his back. It was amazing to see.
Roberto Carlos's goal where he scored from the goalline almost at the corner flag. An incredible shot.
Lastly, another Maradona goal. It was a game played in argentina, not a well known goal, dribbled passed 2 defenders, the goalie, and then held the ball while another defender came at him(he had an open net and could have scored but waited for the last defender to come) went around him, and then scored. The commentary was priceless, and to this day remains my favorite commentary for a goal.
Nakamura's goal against United what can I say except from getting pulled around by around 40 people in my stand I was simply speechless and It happened again 9 minutes later when Louis Saha missed the penalty.
Celtic were sent into the last 16 of the the Champions League was the circumstance by the way and It was for the first time since the 70's so I enjoyed it very much.
