The first qualification game for Euro 2008 in for Romania and Bulgaria. It should be a good game. Two neighbors will be fighting for Eastern European pride. If things went the way both teams wanted, they would both qualify over Holland. But to qualify you have to win all the games you can, and this one is important.

My personal analysis of how the teams match up:

The key matchup will be Chivu-Berbatov. Everyone knows that Berbatov is the main threat Bulgaria has, and he showed that in the game against Wales. However, the quality of Chivu is higher than Berbatov, and I can't see him getting too much from the game.

The Bulgarian team has no defensive strength compared to Romania. From middle up, it is an organized team and a fairly strong team, but in the back line, they are weary. Romania is a strong team in both attacking and defensive compartiments. Romania has strong wing play and strong strikers, and also an amazing defense. It will take more than Barbatov to crack our defense which is composed of:

Ogararu (ajax) Radoi (Steaua) Chivu (Roma) Rat (Shakhtar)

In the attacking arena Romania has Adrian Mutu (fiorentina) who is in the best form ever perhaps scoring 5 goals in his first 3 games this year. Also in the attack, Dica (Steaua Bucharest) who is Steaua's top scorer, Marica (Shakhtar), Daniel Niculae (Auxerre) and Mazilu (Rapid Bucuresti and league top scorer in the last season in Romania.

Overall I think that Romania's offense is a lot stronger than Bulgaria's defense. And Romania's defense is strong enough to cope with Bulgaria's attacking strength. I can only see this game ending up in a Romania win over Bulgaria.

I think it will be Romania 2-0 Bulgaria.

Yeah Holland is class. They should win the group. But you never know, if they play like they did in the WC final tournament, they might not. I am kind of pissed off though... why did Van Basten have to replace Ruud with Huntelaar? I would rather have Ruud there because he is worthless and Huntelaar is AMAZING. Ah well, Chivu and Radoi will have to be on form!

I'm not too sure though, usually teams from Eastern Europe are very strong at home so we'll constantly have to be on our toes.

Our team just sucks tonight We have better players than Romania, we have Berbatov, Stilian and Martin Petrov and also Bojinov who play in big teams in Europe, Romania have just Mutu and Chivu, but they just play much better than us tonight. Our coach Hristo Stoichkov after this game has to leave the team to a bigger coach, he was a great football player, but as a coach he just sucks....

it's not everything in quality , Slovenia (your next opponent) beated Italy in Q for WC
And we like teams from east , we eliminated Romania in knockout for WC. So i hope for draw 6.9. ( i wouldn't have nothing against win).

Ruud is worthless? your words make me a sad panda

though i agree than huntelaar should play over van nistelrooy. They are pretty much the same player except Ruud is more experienced.

Listen to me, you owned nothing for no minutes. You guys were shit, pure fucking shit all game. We ran all over you all game. Your players didn't do anything at all. It was poor playing, Romania played 10 times better than Bulgaria. Berbatov is shit, stelian didn't do anything, bojinov didn't do anything, no one did anything except for martin petrov and his free kick. Then we were shocked/demoralized and you got another quick one in. It shoulda been damn 6-2 at least for us. Believe me, the game in Sofia, you will be embaressed again, and not only on the field but on the scoreboard also.

I can't believe how boring and horible Bulgaria played this game. You guys did nothing, no offense. 2 shots in 45 minutes... no posession at all.. no good chances.. then in 2 minuites a damn gay free kick and a counter attack... lame as fuck. November 17'th... Bulgaria 0-4 Romania. Can't wait.
