Default Liverpool FC - Summer signings Thread

Liverpool have made major recruitments this summer. Rafa's already shown how good he is in the transfer market - getting Sissoko (a player who will develop into a colossal player) at 5m and Alonso at 10m. These 2 have been, for me, his best acquisitions.

But we've also got a class young keeper in Reina, 2 excellent, young central defenders in Daniel Agger and Gabriel Paletta. The pair of Fabio Aurelio and Bolo Zenden have cost us absolutely nothing. Mark Gonzales has already scored twice and looks like a real prospect. And to top it all of, a blistering British combination of Pennant and Bellamy.

His most expensive signing's been Alonso, and considering that Michael Carrick, the poor man's Xabi Alonso, was sold at 18.6m, he was a bargain! Every other signing has been in the range of around 4-7m.

The much criticised Luis Garcia is Benitez's half-priced replacement for El Diouf. He has been really good for the team and has added a different dimension to our game. Rafa's a huge fan of little Luis' and rightfully so. He has given all LFC fans some awesome moments, thats something that nobody can deny.

Today, we signed Dirk Kuyt - i am really unsure about him because i've never actually got to see him play. His reputation precedes him - he's got some pedigree with 71 goals in 101 games. But so did Cisse, but he didn't adapt to Rafa's system. Let's see.

So who has been your favourite signing? And why?

Discuss.

Kuyt blows goats, if you'd seen him play yesterday against Ireland you would have cried due to the amount of money Liverpool have pissed away on a shitty player.

Lol ix-xibi.. But i seriously hope he's wrong. I dont think Rafa, of all people, would spend 10m on a 'shitty' player.

lol i think Kuyt is a really good signing for L`pool and i also think he will do well in the PL with Bellamy and Crouch in the attack. I also think that Huntelaar is much better than Kuyt and will surelly be transfered to a bigger club in the summer or maybe earlier (in the winter). Ajax have always had great players, but they cant keep most of them for a long time.

We've only had him half a season, if he goes Ajax will have atleast 30 million euros spending money.

I think your opinion should be disregarded since you consider carrick a poor man's xabi alonso...

But i may as well talk about their signings. I hate to hop on the bandwagon, but i don't have a lot of hope in Kuyt...I think he's a good player, but I highly doubt he can adjust in the prem.

who else have 'pool signed? palleta is the only player that comes to mind...i think he's been pretty good so far. plus he was free.

I get a little orgasm in my head when i think of huntelaar(>____________________>) but he would cost loads more than kuyt i'm sure. younger, and labelled as the next van basten(which i think he rightly deserves). as a united fan i would have picked huntelaar every day of the week instead of carrick(if they were for the same price). I rate carrick, but i think huntelaar will develop into something magnificent.
