Hello - First post, working on PSG Tutorial Post #1 | | Guest | Hello - First post, working on PSG Tutorial
Hello Everyone,
First off, thank you all for the time and effort you put in to this excellent site and forum. /cheers to you all [righton]
Ive never used Photoshop before, but I've taken this sites advice and have been just clicking about on Photoshop buttons and seeing what they do for starters. Using Photoshop 7.0
Currently I'm trying : http://photoshopgurus.info/intermedi...pagecurl.shtml
Im a bit stuck on Page 3, Step 2 (Creating the missing Corner)
Here is a Quote :
Once you have this Path shape created, create a new layer, move it below the 'paper' layer, then right-click (MAC: long-click) anywhere within the path area and choose the "Fill Path/Subpath" option from the pop-out menu. This will fill our shape with a solid colour
Ive made the path (triangle) with the pen tool by making 3 anchor points ?
Seems to work ok and look just like the example on the right hand side. The Problem is :
- I cant seem to make the new path (triangle shape) a new layer
- because of this I can't seem to fill path/subpath.
I hope I've asked my question clear enough, so that someone might be able to give me some additional advice.
Thank you again,
JustStarting

Hi and welcome to the board JustStarting [righton]
No problem about the extra post; has already been deleted ...gives me something to do [bustagut] Mark (nickname TheKeeper) wrote these tutorials and it's just a matter of time before he can give you the answers you need.
To be able to help you, I should go to the tutorial myself for which I don't have enough time at the moment.
Do know that this tutorial is for intermediate users, so you might (don't know for sure, but Mark can tell you that) have some problems to understand certain steps if you skipped the basic tutorials.
Make sure that you check out this thread later this day or the next day. | |

Yes Alistair, if you want epxeriment at the same time with Wings 3D, Terragen, Cinema 4D, Anim8or, Bryce, 3DS Max, Maya, Vue D'Esprit, Truespace, 3D Canvas, Strata 3D, Blender, etc...then it sure takes 3 years...maybe even 10 [bustagut] [bustagut]

WOW thats a ton of programs to learn !!
Welp I'm a bit stuck again.. LOL I'm attempting this part now... Quote:
Creating some edge thickness:
We'll add a thin edge highlight to the curl, to help give some subtle depth to our paper. Duplicate the curled corner layer you created. Drag this duplicate layer below the original, and fill the shape with a solid white. Now click on the original curled corner layer and using the MOVE tool and arrow keys, nudge this layer 2 pixels down.
Notice the thin edge highlight that appears along the top of the curled edge? It's very subtle, but it helps give the paper some visible thickness
| Challenge is that when I move the original corner down 2 pixels via the arrow keys... it moves down just fine, BUT the top edge of the triangle does not... ie its more like the triangle is growing 2 pixels from the bottom, while the top portion stays anchored.. if that makes sense.
Ive made the copy black so you all can see the effect (its suppose to be white, as this is to make a white edge on the top of the trianglee)
