I cannot believe how frustrating this software is. I hate to bug you guys again, but I'm about ready to throw PS out the window. I've looked through the threads and reviewed three books and still can't get this one. I have a photo and want to add copyright info on the picture. I click on File Info and have added all my information, then hit ok and nothing happens--I don't see the copyright info on the picture. Can you help me with this?

Bob, a few points for you to remember;

a) you'll never bug us; we love to help you out as long as it takes, as many questions as it takes

b) if you get frustrated with something, please post your question in this forum; there's always someone who can help you

c) every first steps with whatever piece of software introduces frustration

About your problem; the copyright info is not displayed or hidden in the image. It's purely some info that goes with the file, not the image itself.

But you can

a) watermark a picture
b) add a copyright notice with the type tool

Default Thanks Gaussian

You all deserve big medals. Thanks for your quick response--I feel better now knowing I wasn't loosing my mind in wondering why the copyright tag wasn't showing on the picture. I did use the type tool to add one.

Glad you got a quick reply, Bob!

To reiterate what Gaussian said, never hesitate to ask when you have a problem with Photoshop. Nobody here knows everything, but chances are there's somebody who has an answer to your problem.

Don't give up out of frustration I know Photoshop can be daunting to a new user, but you'll be amazed at how much you can learn just by asking (and playing!).

I was just about to post something similar to this but I'll add it here. This is an extension of Bob's original quesiton. How do I watermark an image? I just learned what watermarking is and I was hoping someone could tell me how to do this.

I understand tha watermarking is probably the best way to copyright an image? True?

Yes, I'm sure that we can all 'relate' as we were all, at one time, first-time users too! I just wish that I knew about this place in those first few weeks that I was pulling out my hair trying to figure certain things out! [innocent]

Sanby, "watermarking" is a means of putting an image on your image that will "deter" someone from using it, without interfering with the aesthetic properties too terribly much. It by, no means, is a copyright protection. Also, it's not "foolproof" 'cause there will always be those of us who have both the patience and the skill to simply 'clone' a watermark out... However, it does serve a purpose insofar as it will prevent the "average surfer" from grabbing your images and using them for their own use. Here's a decent tute on how to apply a custom watermark to your images. http://www.candeekis.com/pswatermark/pswmtut.html

Even the hidden watermarks are not fail-proof.
Best thing to do is to be careful with our original PSD files; the best proof one has

Yeah, the .psd, I never thought of that.

I don't think watermarking is what I was thinking of then. My dad said something that sounded like almost a hidden text document that was visible and you wouldn't know it was there but could be pulled up to show who the original creator was.
